END OF 2026 SAILING SEASON - NEWS UPDATE

 

An uncertain future: With the retirement of Victor's long term skipper, and no

buyer having been found, Ipswich Waterfront's iconic Thames sailing barge Victor faces being decommissioned, ending her life as a passenger vessel, and leaving Ipswich permanently. Having been built here in 1895, trading here in her cargo years, and returning to work from here for the last 20 years, we think that would be a terrible shame. Victor deserves better.

The solution: A charity has been created to save Victor. The Victor 1895 Community Heritage Trust are fundraising to purchase Victor. They intend to continue operating Victor's much loved passenger trips in 2027 and beyond, but will also use Victor for community benefit.
